A dog that was abandoned and left to suffer for nine long years finally has a chance at a better life in its final days.

Josephine, affectionately called Pheenie, was abandoned when her owner was deported, leaving her alone and vulnerable. She sought shelter behind a shipping container in a scrapyard, where she had to endure harsh weather conditions with minimal protection. Her only source of sustenance for the next nine years came from scraps and leftovers given to her by kind-hearted locals. Unfortunately, Josephine’s fate was inevitable, and it eventually caught up with her.

Due to prolonged neglect and stress, Pheenie’s health had deteriorated significantly by the time she reached her senior years. She had been involved in a truck accident which resulted in the loss of her right eye. Additionally, she had contracted a spinal cord infection, her dental health was poor, and she suffered from both a urinary tract infection and painful breast tumors.

This awful movie chronicles the journey of volunteers from Hope For Paws as they endeavor to rescue Pheenie from her solitary life. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, Pheenie eventually realized that help had finally arrived, even in her advanced age. Her joy at being saved was palpable as she gratefully hugged her rescuers, a look of defeat etched on her face.

Pheenie was placed in a foster program that catered to her medical needs permanently. She lived a happy, comfortable, and carefree life on a large farm for five months until she passed away due to old age. Despite her previous life of hardships and isolation, Pheenie received an abundance of love during her final days. May she rest in peace.
